Founded in 1918 as the West Tampa Commercial Club by Angel Cuesta of Cuesta Rey Cigar, the West Tampa Chamber of Commerce has been a cornerstone of advocacy, economic development, and community pride for more than a century. In 1929, the organization officially became the West Tampa Chamber of Commerce, expanding its mission to support local businesses, promote economic opportunities, and serve as a unified voice for the West Tampa business community.

Throughout its history, the Chamber has played a pivotal role in shaping West Tampa’s growth by fostering collaboration between business leaders, civic partners, and residents. From championing local entrepreneurship to supporting infrastructure improvements and neighborhood revitalization, the Chamber has remained focused on building a strong, sustainable community. A major milestone in this work was the Chamber’s leadership in helping establish the West Tampa Community Redevelopment Area in 2015, ensuring continued investment in the neighborhood’s future.
